Scandinavian Coastal SceneA mid 20th century Scandinavian coastal scene depicting three moored fishing vessels under the last of the evenings sun. The sky is aglow with a deep golden hue as several local fishermen tend to their boats. The painting is housed in what appears to be its original frame. Medium Oil on wood Size including frame 20 x 17 52cm x 43cm Year of creation c. 1940 Provenance Sweden Condition Areas of craquelure and a few abrasions.

So probably not as old as the gentleman appears but still a wonderful decorative item

We’ve dated the portrait to around 1840 but it could be earlier

you have two older ladies sitting by the stream as they natter about the day’s events - one seems to be using her hands to gesticulate as the other holds a stick

There’s also a reference to an artist with the name ‘Lind’ but we’ve been unable to discover exactly who painted it
