After Christian Andreas Schleisner, Two Monks In A MonasteryA fine mid 19th century depiction of two monks discussing the scriptures within a monastery. Theyre sat before a beautiful mountainous landscape and a small distant village. Another very similar piece was created by the Danish artist Christian Andreas Schleisner (1810 1882) so this could be a copy of that work. However, many of the elements in this painting are more detailed than Schleisners so I do wonder if ours is, in fact, the original. We love

He’s also created a clever diagonal by using a darker green in the bottom left

The painting is signed in the lower right and housed within an antique frame that’s probably the original

Foss loved this area and he’s captured the effects of light so beautifully as it illuminates the lake and three grazing sheep

There are some marks on the glass which can be removed if you wish - just let us know if you would like us to clean it
