19th-Century German School Portrait Of A Saint With White FlowersA charming late 19th century portrait of a saint looking to the heavens and holding white flowers. It was probably created by a keen amateur for a place of worship and could be based on another work. We love his gentle expression, rouged cheeks and large doe eyes. Craquelure throughout and one crack through the sail at the stern of the ship

Bang-Sorensen has applied the paint quite thickly in areas to give the piece some texture and the style is surely influenced by the French post-impressionists
