Hardy Perfect Taupo Fly Reel 3 7/8"A nice Hardy Perfect Taupo fly reel, 3 7 8" diameter and set up for LHW (though switchable). This is the modern re issue of this rare early model. Near mint condition with some very faint mounting marks on the reel foot, but I could find no other signs of use anywhere else on the reel. It may have been fitted to a rod and loaded with backing, but I doubt it's been fished. Frost gray frame and spool with an ivorine style handle and a smooth alloy foot.

I keep two such sizes in my personal collection and use them frequently

Squared bakelite winding check flows seamlessly into the squared half-wells grip measuring 6" in length

this is only an aesthetic issue and should not cause concern

The ferrules are oxidized black and fit perfectly

A rare Pinky Gillum salmon rod

I can only guess at why that should be

The rod features a sanded blank with oxblood wraps and bright guides

"Heddon" is stamped into the wood of the reel seat

There are also two small varnish chips in the upper third of one tip

full length and unmolested

The rod is in excellent++ condition with only the slightest evidence of use
