EF Payne Bamboo Fly Rod 10' 3/2 #6/7An E. F. Payne bamboo fly rod, refinished by Sam Carlson, 10', 3 piece, 2 tip, and built for what feels to me like a #6 or #7 line. 7. 3 ounces. A slower action grilse rod with very fine tips for its size (. 061" over varnish) and well suited for a silk line. The somewhat lighter flame color cane indicates an early rod by Jim. Brown wraps with an agate stripper. The chrome guides have been outfitted by Sam. The ferrules are the early potbelly style.
