The flies were tied by Howells himself they are in exceptional condition and very well tied as Howells was a very accomplished tyer. The flies were tied between 1960 1970. The diameter is 3 1/2" with a spool width of 7/8"

Comes with a vintage leather D-Block case (the strap is dried and split) customized with a wood insert to hold reel securely by the foot

and it has a tiny hex shaped nickel silver front cork check and a wood lip at the rear cork

The serial #1803 is lettered one flat left and the keeper is one flat right

the latter of which is designed to hold the reel slightly closer to the hand to reduce casting fatigue

The wraps appear to be an olive brown with black edges at the keeper and female ferrule

Blunt cigar grip which is styled with the largest portion in the first third of the grip and which measures 10 corks
