Payne Model 101 Bamboo Rod 7'6" 2/2 #5For sale here is a Payne Model 101 7 1 2' 2 2 5wt bamboo rod. Excellent condition. All sections are full length and straight. Moderately tempered cane with chestnut silks and gold tipping. Gold and purple at the winding check and male ferrules. Blued hardware with the exception of the reel seat. Ring hook keeper. The cigar grip measures 6" in length with mild soiling. Up locking reel seat. The locking ring features the "Sold by Abercrombie & Fitch"

According to Hoagy he and Vince Marinaro worked on this and only 3 rods were ever made by Hoagy with this feature

with a 16 ferrule and 5/64

This rod is remarkably straight

The needle is turned slightly over the needle eye size and then glued into the bamboo which has been scalloped at the top near the opening

Redone many years ago

May rose wraps with orange edges

corners very slightly bumped

There is a hidden pocket cap at the heel of the grip

As noted the #3 tip is a slightly lighter color with the #4 a slightly darker temper
